Workshop Invasive Species Management
30 - 31st of January 2025
Lithuania
Workshop Results & Presentations
The workshop on invasive species in the Baltic Sea has been a success!
The main takeaway messages:
- Collaborative and Coordinated Efforts: Interdisciplinary collaboration, regional cooperation, and stakeholder coordination are essential for effectively managing invasive species.
- Improved Monitoring and Adaptive Approaches: Standardized risk assessments, citizen science, and nuanced ecological approaches can enhance research and management.
- Long-Term Commitment and Public Engagement: Addressing non indigenous species requires persistent efforts, public involvement, and potentially shift from a "native vs. non-native" perspective to ecological functionality.
